When YouTube announced in September that it would allow video makers to earn money from Shorts, the video site’s TikTok clone, creators were intrigued. Jaeki Cho of Righteous Eats, a food account that highlights New York City restaurants owned by people of color, was so compelled that he posted a TikTok video vowing that he would premiere all content on Shorts before any other platform.
