What You Need to Know about NDIS Support Coordination aussielifecare.com.au
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded disability support scheme that helps people with disabilities to lead fulfilling and purposeful lives. This is a scheme that allows people with disabilities to have as much choice and control as possible over the funded support they receive. But the participants may need help to understand the NDIS so that they can make the right choice and utilise the services to get maximum benefits. Support Coordination is capacity-building support that assists the
participants in using their NDIS plan, coordinating their supports and connecting with NDIS providers.
Support Coordinators have in-depth knowledge about the NDIS that they utilise to make the participants aware of how their funding can be managed and the kind of services that they can access using that money. In accordance with a participant’s preferences and their NDIS plan budget, support coordinators organize various support and services. Keeping track of the effectiveness of these supports and services are also part of the responsibility of a Support Coordinator. Depending on the NDIS funds and personal circumstances, there are three levels of Support Coordination that can be included in a participant’s plan: Support Connection, Coordination of Supports and Specialist Support Coordination. Usually, the level of Support Coordination that can be accessed by a participant is mentioned in their NDIS plan. If it is not explained in their plan, the participants can choose the level of Support Coordination to be delivered based on their needs.
At Aussie Life Care, a registered NDIS service provider, our Support Coordinators focus on building the capacity and capability of the participants to make informed decisions and coordinate their support to reap the maximum benefits.
